In the midst of a rap revolution, a new group of soldiers
emerges to the frontlines. Fed up with direction that the music game was headed,
they decided to headline the campaign to bring the music back to the streets
where it belongs, and out of the office buildings.
As far as the business end of the industry goes, we can
all agree that "hip-hop", especially from the South, is at its pinnacle. However, the creative side of the industry is impotent and brain dead, as
over-commercialized media icons spit weak and shallow lyrics over basic, mass
produced, recycled beats. Mainstream artists have become lazy, and are more
equivalent to dirty politicians than original musicians. "Hip-Pop" has become
more about record label execs making money than about making quality music. For
emerging artists, they have to face the reality that getting your big break is
more about who you know, and how much money you have, rather than how much
talent you have, and truly gifted acts go overlooked.
Secret Society emerges from the underground with a sound
that is real and raw. Independently governed, they are dedicated to making
underground street music with
commercial quality. Refusing to beg for opportunities, or to be told what to
do, they are kicking the door down to the industry and strong-arming their way
to the top. It's a hostile takeover, and failure is not an option. Their ghetto ballads of real
life over dark, gutter instrumentals creates a soundscape that will convey the
struggle of poverty and violence of everyday life living in the ghettos of
Houston, Texas. Fueled with relentless determination, they
bring the heat that no one else in the industry has the skill or the courage to
do.
Blackboy, LaCarr,
D.A.G.Z., and BINO make up the four man
hit squad. Each delivering a distinct and different sound, each producing a
different style of beats.
